Relaxation is not Numbness!

There is a difference between relaxation and numbness

People often confuse the two, numbness is usually a waste of time, giving you no additional energy at the end of it, rather it leaves you more tired.

Relaxation however is energizing: warmth, tingling, heaviness, pleasure can be experienced, leaving you feeling light and elated at the end.

Relaxation is an internal need, but most numb themselves instead. In these days of technology, caffiene, drugs and alcohol, instant temporary gratification are available to more natural and healthier options such as prayer, meditation, yoga, pranayama, gi gong, silence and stillness etc.

Nature in its wisdom has provided escape several escape valves in our body with no additional requirements to release tension. People today take alcohol to relax, and caffeine to keep on working, and ignore their natural body cycles.

One of the most powerful and simplest methods of relaxation is stillness (sitting, standing, lying on your back). Lie on your back on the floor comfortably in a "corpse pose" once a day for at least 30 minutes without moving.
