I reflect on the speech I did today. I hit my goals of doing the speech without notes, as well as having a minute to spare. What was very interesting was that 4 out of the 5 speeches was all about the same related topics, one of the speeches, I thought was basically talking about the same thing but based on applying the lessons learnt from running! Talk about synchronicity!
Improvements Required:
I got some constructive feedback which I would like to capture here for next time:
- Uneven Eye Contact: Although I had eye contact, I needed to establish eye contact with everyone in the audience.
- I was using the word "So" too many times.
I asked my daughter in year 5 what connectives I could use instead, she came up with so many: Thus, Therefore, Alas, she then when on and said there are "Time Connectives" that I could use as well: Finally, Initially, Thereafter...She then explained me there is the VCOP concept she is being taught at school Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers, Punctuation...It just goes to show that the answers to the questions you need are closer than you think they are!
